David J. Burnikel, MD

Dr. David Burnikel is a native from Pittsburgh, PA. He received his undergraduate degree from the prestigious University of Notre Dame where he received a Bachelors in Pre Professional Studies. He completed Medical School in 2006 at Temple University Medical School and is a member of the United States Navy. Dr. Burnikel has a huge interest in complex arthroscopy of the shoulder, knee and ankle but he treats a variety of general orthopedic conditions. He received his residency training from Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans where he grew a strong interest in total joint replacement and fracture. Following his tour with the US Navy Dr. Burnikel completed a year of training in sports medicine where he focused on the operative and non-operative treatment of cartilage, ligament injuries of the knee, shoulder instability, as well as sports related injuries.  Dr. David Burnikel is excited to be serving San Diego and is committed to providing the best care. He is currently welcoming new patients.
