Congratulations to National University for completing the first phase of their partnership with Planetree Inc., a global leader in patient-centered healthcare.

Planetree, Inc., a mission-based not-for-profit organization that partners with healthcare organizations around the world, and National University, the second-largest private nonprofit university in California, announce the first collaboration of its kind to train a new generation of health professionals in exceptional patient-centered care.

This is Planetree’s first partnership with an academic institution, and it offers a unique opportunity to jointly prepare students in patient-centered care. Patient-centered care emphasizes the active participation of patients and their families in the health care decision process. National University partners with Planetree to create curriculum

— National University health care students will be the first in the nation to be trained in patient-centered care with a curriculum designed by a nonprofit that has championed the concept for almost four decades.

“This is a very different concept from how things are done now,” said Gloria McNeal, dean of the university’s School of Health and Human Services.
